FAQ

Are we eligible for a 2023 Spring City Grant if we received a 2022 City Grant?
Answer: You are eligible.
May we submit our grant application earlier than the stated due date?
Answer: Of course, early submission will help us complete our assessment sooner.
Why must our meetings be “open”?
Answer: The City uses tax payer money to fund the grants. Therefore, grant recipients and TCF must comply with the law and operate openly and with transparency.
What does TCF mean by all meetings are “open to the public”?
Answer: “Open to the public” means that any citizen has the right to request permission to attend a grant recipient’s organization meeting, and the organization must make a reasonable effort to accommodate the request. For example, if a person requests permission to attend the organization’s next meeting, it is reasonable to expect that the organization provide the requestor the necessary information to attend. However, if the requestor cannot make the scheduled date of the meeting, it would be unreasonable to expect that the organization change the date to accommodate the request.
Is it appropriate for us to ask TCF if a grant request meets criteria, or other questions,
before we submit it?
Answer: Yes, do not hesitate to call us with questions. We will share answers that could benefit all potential applicants.
May we ask TCF questions regarding the assessment of our request after we submit it?
Answer: In the spirit of fairness to everyone, we prefer that applicants do not seek information after the application deadline. However, we will contact you if we have questions or need additional information to make a recommendation to fund. TCF is willing
to discuss your request after grants are awarded in order to help write your with future grant requests.

What financial information is actually needed and why does TCF need it?
Answer: TCF needs the financial information to make the best decision for the City and
applicant. We need three financial items of information; the project/program budget, an
organization Balance Sheet, and Income Statement.
  • The budget allows us to evaluate proposal plans and the feasibility of meeting the goals with the money requested. It also shows, if appropriate, us who else is contributing to the project.
  • The Balance Sheet and Income Statement verify the stability and viability of your organization. We have attached an example of each that provides sufficient information for our review.
