COMCAST CARES DAY 2017
Despite cold wet weather, approximately 170 community residents participated in the April 22 community clean-up event.
Comcast Cares Day has become one of the largest single days of corporate and community volunteering in the country. Trinidad Community Foundation (TCF) became a local community partner organization with Comcast in 2009. TCF plays a major role in organizing the local community clean-up event and recruiting local volunteers. In return, The Comcast Foundation provides a grant to TCF for its role in organizing the event. Each year, Trinidad Community Foundation shares the grant they receive from Comcast with local non-profit organizations.

Participating Groups 2015
Over 100 volunteers worked in various areas around Trinidad. A continental breakfast was prepared and served by the Trinidad Autism Awareness Group. Areas cleaned included: the river and riverbanks, Mt San Rafael and Ave Maria Shrine grounds, Santa Fe Trail, the 1-25 Trinidad entrance points of Southside, Cimino and Central Park and the local Community Garden. Curbs along Main Street and parking blocks at the Catholic Cemetery were painted. Many individual residents participated as well as groups such as the Department of Corrections Maintenance Crew, City Council and City manager, and the City Parks Department. Comcast Cares Day April 26, 2014
Volunteers gathered for registration and a continental breakfast at Cimino Park on Saturday, April 26. A big thanks to Super Save in Raton for the breakfast burritos. After a brief group meeting designated clean-up areas were announced. A lunch (compliments of TCF) was served to all registered volunteers around 12:00. Donors for the lunch include: The Clubhouse Grille-chili beans; Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers-hamburger buns; Safeway-cookies; Walmart-$20.00 gift card. Volunteers make an outstanding contribution to our community in many ways. This year, as in the past, the success of community clean-up is a reflection of the ever-increasing dedication and enthusiasm of the many amazing volunteers who gave up a few hours to clean-up their community. |
