COMCAST CARES DAY 2019
     Trinidad volunteers pull together again!

On a partly cloudy May 4th morning, armed with a breakfast burrito, new gloves, new t-shirt and the anticipation of a free lunch, folks from all over the county gathered once again to take ownership of the annual Comcast Cares Days Purgatoire river clean up. Nearly a hundred people representing a dozen local non-profits donated their time to remove debris from our treasured river front. We are thankful for the joint sponsorship of this year's event by INBank.  A hearty lunch of pulled pork sandwiches and brats was served by Mario's Burritos. We send a big "Thank You" to both the City of Trinidad for donating two cheerful drivers to collect trash bags and Twin Enviro for their delivery of a dumpster! Comcast donates to TCF for this event based on the amount of volunteers. TCF in turn, shares that grant with each of the non-profits represented on clean up day. Thank you Comcast!

COMCAST CARES DAY 2017
Despite cold wet weather, approximately 170 community residents participated in the April 22 community clean-up event.

Comcast Cares Day has become one of the largest single days of corporate and community volunteering in the country. Trinidad Community Foundation (TCF) became a local community partner organization with Comcast in 2009. TCF plays a major role in organizing the local community clean-up event and recruiting local volunteers. In return, The Comcast Foundation provides a grant to TCF for its role in organizing the event. Each year, Trinidad Community Foundation shares the grant they receive from Comcast with local non-profit organizations.

Curbs along Main Street and parking blocks at the Catholic Cemetery were painted. Many individual residents participated as well as groups such as the Department of Corrections Maintenance Crew, City Council and City manager, and the City Parks Department. Comcast Cares Day April 26, 2014
Volunteers gathered for registration and a continental breakfast at Cimino Park on Saturday, April 26. A big thanks to Super Save in Raton for the breakfast burritos.  After a brief group meeting designated clean-up areas were announced. A lunch (compliments of TCF) was served to all registered volunteers around 12:00. Donors for the lunch include: The Clubhouse Grille-chili beans; Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers-hamburger buns; Safeway-cookies; Walmart-$20.00 gift card. Volunteers make an outstanding contribution to our community in many ways. This year, as in the past, the  success of community clean-up is a reflection of the ever-increasing dedication and enthusiasm of the many amazing volunteers who gave up a few hours to clean-up their community.

Comcast Cares Day April 27, 2013
Over 85 volunteers met at Cimino Park at 8:00 AM for registration and morning refreshments. Each volunteer who registered received a tee-shirt provided by Comcast and a "chili dog" lunch at noon provided by the Trinidad Community Foundation. TCF thanks all the volunteers for their time and effort cleaning up areas along the Purgatoire River Corridor and the Riverwalk. A special thanks to:
  • The city's mayor and council woman Carol Bolton for their time and effort cleaning up areas of the city they help govern
  • The local Boy Scout Troup and Trinidad Middle School MESA who consistently show up year after year to lend a hand with the clean-up
  • The young adults from Hoehne School and the young group of home schoolers for their time
  • The City of Trinidad Street and Bridge Department volunteers who hauled away the collected trash
  • Dave Griego from the Clubhouse Grille for the chili, Safeway for the cookies and Walmart for assistance with purchasing chips for the lunch
  • Rose Trujillo from the Cancer Alliance, Paula Murphy from the Trinidad Times Independent, and Kathleen Griego a TCF board member and owner of Wendys for serving the lunch
